Under Austria's Hallmarking Act 2000 (Punzierungsgesetz), gold articles made in Austria or offered for sale must, subject to the Act's exceptions, carry a fineness number in thousandths, and only 986, 900 (with the addition Au), 750 and 585 are allowed for gold (§ 3).
