585 — Gold price in Poland

Poland's hallmarking law (Prawo probiercze, 2011) sets seven legal fineness grades for gold: 999, 960, 750, 585, 500, 375 and 333. Precious-metal articles may be sold if they meet one of the law's conditions, such as carrying Polish hallmarks; articles with up to 1 gram of gold alloy are exempt. Supplies, intra-EU acquisitions and imports of investment gold are exempt from VAT in Poland. Investment gold means bars or plates of at least 995 fineness, and coins of at least 900 fineness minted after 1800 that are or were legal tender and sell for no more than 80% above the market value of their gold.
